A Timeline game for Drupal’s 25th birthday 🎂
Drupal turns 25 on January 15, 2026. Twenty-five years. That’s… a lot of releases, a lot of “wait, that was already in core back then?”, and a lot of community moments that kinda shaped how we all build today.
So for the birthday celebrations happening right now, we built a small browser game inspired by the card game Timeline: you get an event card from the Drupal ecosystem, and you have to place it in the correct chronological spot.
And yes… it’s harder than you think. (In the best way.)

What it is
Drupal Timeline is a quick, lightweight game where you try to align key moments from the last ~25 years of the Drupal landscape in the right order.
You drag a card onto the timeline, lock in your choice, and immediately learn whether your memory is rock-solid… or wildly optimistic.
It’s perfect for:
- Drupal meetups and nerdy parties it works also on a tablet :)
- In the beginning of your next online meeting when you still wait for all attendees to join
- that one colleague who swears they remember exactly when something happened (we all know one)
How to play
The rules are simple:
- Drag the active card to the correct position on the timeline
- You have 3 lives (wrong placement costs one)
- Correct placements score points
- If time runs out, you lose a life
- And yes, there’s a high score to chase
Why we built it
Because anniversaries are fun… but they’re also a great excuse to actually remember the journey.
A big shoutout to Cezara who build the whole game and had an open ear for inputs and fancy wishes form Nico.
Drupal’s 25th birthday week is all about celebrating the people, the contributions, and the evolution of the project across the community.
And a game like this makes that history feel alive. Not as a long blog archive (which we also love), but as a thing you can play together and feel the pain, when you remember the date not correctly.
Also, let’s be honest: nothing bonds a Drupal crowd faster than a "I told you so" :P.
